Anyone reading this article spends some time online. Some of us manage our finances, others run our business, and still others use the Internet to communicate.
Here are 5 ways you can get more done online.
- Schedule your time – write down what you’re going to do before you do it, how much time you’re going to spend on the task, and what result you want on the end.
- Don’t have a start homepage – in Firefox and Internet Explorer there is the option to open to a blank web page. By opening a blank webpage, you prevent yourself from getting dragged into the news, youtube or other sites.
- Email Addiction – turn off your automatic email checker and have set times during the day when you check your email. Don’t check your email 3 or 4 times daily.
- Measure Time – use a tool like RescueTime to monitor how you use your web time and make changes so you can use your time better.
- Block YouTube/Facebook -unless it’s part of your business, spend as little as time on sites like YouTube, Facebook, Myspace and other sites whose primary purpose is to primarily waste time. You can use a service like Open DNS to block sites with a password at the router or computer level.
